An ACCC Dialogue: The Expanding Scope of the Independent Counsel Doctrine
Wednesday, November 06, 2019, 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM EDT
Category: Presented by ACCC

Join us for a conference call to discuss the expanding scope of the independent counsel doctrine.

Dial In: 800-848-5704
Code: 6174397556#

As part of ACCC’s mission to be a thought-leader in the field of insurance and bad faith law, we are planning a series of spirited, open-ended discussions concerning cases and other developments that seem likely to have a significant impact on the future shape of the law.

In the decades since Cumis, most courts have restricted the right to independent counsel to cases in which conflicts have arisen based on an insurer’s reservation of rights. Recently, however, some courts have expanded its scope to disputes between the insured and its insurer concerning trial strategy and the like. Do these cases represent a trend or just an outlier? Join us to discuss these and related concerns.

Speakers
Mike Huddleston, Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr, P.C. (Texas)
Michael Marick, Skarzynski Marick & Black LLP (Illinois)
Marty Pentz, Foley Hoag (Massachusetts)

You do not need to pre-register for this call. Just dial in at 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 6. The call will last 30-40 minutes. Our speakers will open the discussion with their own observations and then open the floor to all participants for a candid, confidential conversation.

Please note that this call is restricted to ACCC Fellows and its contents may not be recorded or transcribed.
