Artificial intelligence has already begun to change the face of claims handling by insurers. It has the potential to streamline many aspects of the claims process. But if not handled correctly, it can also incorporate bias and lead to unfair results, which could ultimately hurt both policyholders and insurers. The Panel will discuss the potential uses of AI, and also precautions that insurers should take to ensure that the claims process remains fair and does not lead to liability for bad faith and unfair claims practices.
